Job Summary

Primarily this role is to support the Senior Designers and Project leaders as well as collaborate with the project teams and directors to produce design and technical documentation from concept through to completion.

The ideal candidate will understand the various production & interaction processes, be able to coordinate with external parties (be they colleagues, clients, suppliers or service providers), and be able to manage multiple projects within tight deadlines. They must be able to demonstrate expert knowledge of Revit, Auto Cad and Lumion. (In- house Revit & Lumion training offered.)

Responsibilities

• Sourcing of imagery, ideas, specifications and new suppliers to use on various projects. (to be used in DC/ DD presentations).
• Furniture Layouts/ Spatial planning of space.
• Collaboration with IA, SAOTA or Architect of Record to ensure the IA/architecture has necessary space requirements from a
lifestyle point of view and how space will work for the homeowner in terms of functionality, furniture layout, etc.
• Custom modelling of furniture (as per the DC/DD presentation imagery), lighting, adding fabrics to scatters, sofas, rugs, etc.
• Developing SPM DC Presentations presented to the client (with their feedback) to create DD Presentations on PowerPoint.
• Numbered Furniture Layouts which relate back to the register.
• Generating registers diligently and as per Admin and company standards.
• Client Liaison via email I telephone – ongoing throughout the design process.
• Lighting/Furniture packages (DD stage) – axos, dimensioned drawings for costing and ultimately manufacture.
• On average most JPMs should be working on around 3 projects each (local and international), with SPM overseeing the project
progress and frequent progress check-ins.
• Checking in with SPM on progress/status several times during the week.
• DC, DD, finishes and fabrics presentations, furniture approvals, showroom visits with the clients.
• Attend fabric and furniture company presentations weekly to build supplier relations and product awareness.
• Working with 3D artists to produce CGI realistic renders.
• Window Treatment Layouts, headboard elevations and checking of IA layouts (plug points & lighting) for coordination purposes.
• Installations on-site – accepting furniture, styling, positioning, site handovers.
• Objet, Accessories shopping/sourcing.
• Artwork proposals – working with local and international galleries to source and procure artworks.
• Factory visits – overseeing the manufacturing process, quality controlling at factories for all bespoke furniture/lighting being
manufactured for clients.
• Site visits – confirming wall sizes prior to manufacturing to ensure plans match built and furniture will fit
• Admin – client meeting minutes, filing respective supplier info/ correspondence, confirming when Accounts/ Admin department can
release payments on specific orders.
• Dealing with consultants/suppliers; Managing consultant/ supplier relations.
• Technical understanding of issues on-site and proactive troubleshooting and workshop proposals of solutions.
• Manage & oversee transporting of furniture/arranging of insurance.
• Assistance of SPM’s with support & diligent minute-taking & listening during all meetings. Minutes to be issued within 2 days of
the meeting.
• Assist the Senior Manager with the coordination of the project team, project programme and team meetings.
• To develop and be responsible for certain aspects of the project design and development.
• Source samples for different finishes, keep the existing sample library up to date with new designs/ material.
• Thorough knowledge of and compliance with all ARRCC systems, standards and procedures.
• Able to work within a structured document management system and be accountable for upholding that system.
• Fully understanding of SOA & agreements, the scope of work and payment terms.
• Manage export I import & fully understand all items in this regard (with assistance from the Procurement & Logistics department).
• Drive & manage costing, orders and payments with Admin and Accounts department.
• Be aware of and manage the profitability of projects; Be conscious of project profit margins vs time spent.
• Ensure furniture payments and fees are received timeously.
• Lighten the load of seniors and colleagues wherever possible.

Essential Skills and Criteria

• Excellent working knowledge of Autodesk Revit Software and Microsoft Office suite (Revit & Lumion skills advantageous; in-house
training offered).
• Ability to understand and formulate design decisions and present for discussion.
• Ability to use a variety of media and software in the development and documentation of a design project
• Keen eye for architecture and design.
• Ability to accurately understand and interpret instructions.
• Understanding of the production process, including applications of different file formats.
• The ability to learn and demonstrate creative problem-solving skills.
• Able to set and achieve deadlines and give regular updates on progress.
